Wall Cracks and Second Storey Extension

A private owner engaged Foundation Engineering to investigate the causes of wall cracking in the front section of a residential house. The owner was also intending on adding a second storey on top of the affected area.

The engineer opted to conduct Perth Sand Penetrometer (PSP) tests to assess the level of compaction underneath the limestone footings. Results suggested an inadequate level of compaction below the existing footings

To prevent further cracking and taking into consideration the additional loads for the proposed second storey, Foundation Engineering recommended and designed a certified Microfine Cement Grout formation to accommodate the increased loads requirements.
